Volcanion

Description:

Volcanion was the final Pokemon, as well as Mythical Legend, that was released in the Sixth Generation of Pokemon. It is the only Fire / Water Type Pokemon known to the Pokemon World, and it has a unique Stat Spread that allows it to be used in a number of ways. It can be a Bulky Special Sweeper with its incredibly high Special Attack, a Bulky Physical Threat with its stellar Attack, or even a Bulky Tank or Defensive Wall with its amazing defensive statistics.

Bulky Physical Sweeper Set:
Item - Choice Band
Nature - Adamant
Individual Values - 6IVs / 5IVs
Effort Values - 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpDef
Moveset - Flare Blitz / Earthquake / Stone Edge / Superpower OR Steam Eruption

Summary: Volcanion is more of a Special Attacking Pokemon, but it can still be used as a Physical Sweeper to disrupt opponents that were expecting such. Flare Blitz leads the way with both the STAB Increase and Choice Band Boost. Earthquake and Stone Edge provide additional coverage, while the last move slot can be set with Superpower for even more coverage or Steam Eruption to still utilizes its fantastic Special Attack.

Nature - Modest
Individual Values - 6IVs / 5IVs
Effort Values - 252 HP / 252 SpAtk / 4 SpDef
Moveset - Sludge Wave / Earth Power / Fire Blast / Steam Eruption

Summary: This is Volcanion premier set, and it packs quite a punch. With the Choice Specs, not much can stand in Volcanion's way. Fire Blast and Stream Eruption massacre opposing teams because of STAB, and Sludge Wave and Earth Power provide the necessary coverage needed against other Pokemon.


Weakness Policy Flame Charge Set:
Item - Weakness Policy
Nature - Naive
Individual Values - 6IVs
Effort Values - 252 Speed / 252 SpAtk / 4 Atk
Moveset - Flame Charge / Earth Power / Fire Blast / Steam Eruption

Summary: The one true setback Volcanion has lies in its below-average Speed Stat, but this set easily takes care of that (for the most part). The goal is for Volcanion to come into the battle when you know the opposing Pokemon has a move that Volcanion is weak to, preferrably after one of your Pokemon faints. Once in battle, uses Flame Charge immediately to boost that poor speed to become a speedster. If everything goes as planned, you will get hit by like an Earthquake or something, activating the Weakness Policy and instantly doubling Volcanion's Special Attack. From there, sweep with its usually seen moves.


Status Nightmare Set:
Item - Leftovers
Nature - Calm
Individual Values - Perfect HP / Def / SpDef
Effort Values - 144 HP / 116 Def / 248 SpDef
Moveset - Toxic / Will-O-Wisp / Haze / Rest

Summary: It would be easy to remiss all of this if we didn't mention a set that takes full advantage of Volcanion's bulky defensive stats. In this set, Volcanion loves to status the opponent to death with Toxic and Will-O-Wisp (which have incredible coverage with each other, unless the opponent has the ability Immunity). Haze messes with opponents that love to try to raise their stats to take Volcanion out once and for all. Rest is only needed if the opposing Pokemon trys the same strategy on Volcanion.

Effort Values - 200 HP / 160 SpAtk / 148 Def
Moveset - Sludge Bomb / Earth Power / Flamethrower OR Fire Blast / Steam Eruption

Summary: This set - contributed by our very own FreezShock - is focused on Volcanion's ability to utilize the Assault Vest, boosting its rather mediocre Special Defense Stat. From there, Volcanion looks very similar outside of its Effort Values Spread to a Choice Specs Set.


Doubles Set:
Item - Assault Vest
Nature - Modest
Individual Values - 6IVs / 5IVs
Effort Values - 200 HP / 160 SpAtk / 148 Def
Moveset - Sludge Wave / Earth Power / Heat Wave / Steam Eruption

Summary: Identical to the Assault Vest Set, except with Heat Wave and Sludge Wave for better Doubles Coverage.
