Staraptor

Description

Staraptor came to be back in the Fourth Generation of the Sinnoh Region. It, like many Flying Type Birds before it, was usually the first Pokemon a trainer would catch with either Dawn or Lucas as a Starly. Once completely evolved, trainers had a seriously strong in-game Pokemon that had access to a number of stellar moves. However, Staraptor wouldn't be shown in all of its glory until the Fifth Generation, when it was given the Hidden Ability of Reckless. Almost overnight, Staraptor went from a not-so-great Competitive Pokemon into a valuable option outside of the later Talonflame-Filled Competitive World.

Warrior13's 6th Generation Competitive Suggested Staraptor Moveset
Item - Choice Band OR Life Orb OR Sharp Beak
Ability - Reckless
Effort Values - 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Nature - Jolly
Moveset - Brave Bird / Double Edge / Close Combat / U-Turn OR Roost OR Steel Wing

Summary: This here is the most used set of Staraptor, and it packs quite a punch. Brave Bird and Double Edge are just off the charts in terms of damage inflicted upon an opponent, while Close Combat provides further coverage against Rock Type Pokemon and is a great move overall. The last move sort of depends on what item you decide to use. U-Turn can be used with any of the items, especially with the Choice Band as it allows you to scout. But if you go with the Life Orb or Sharp Beak, Roost can be used to regain more HP or Steel Wing could be encorporated for additional coverage purposes.

TVKL's 6th Generation Personal Suggested Staraptor Moveset
Item - Power Herb
Ability - Reckless
Effort Values - 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 SpDef
Nature - Jolly
Moveset - Roost / Facade / Brave Bird / Sky Attack

Summary: Not this set is a little different - contributed by SuperCheats Member TVKL - where Staraptor takes full advantage of the Power Herb to get off one massive Sky Attack in just one turn. From there, a player can continue to do incredible damage with STAB & Reckless Enhanced Brave Birds. Facade provides additional coverage and does immense damage should Starator get a status issue placed upon it; Roost is to recover valuable HP whenever you have a chance to do so.
