Emboar
Description
Emboar was the final evolution for the Fifth Fire Starter ever released. It has incredible power, especially with its hidden ability of Reckless, but it's seriously lacking in speed. It sort of makes up for it with an especially high Hit Point Stat, but it's still a cruch that sees it remaining in the lower competitive tiers.
Warrior13's 6th Generation Competitive Suggested Emboar Moveset
Item - Weakness Policy OR Life Ord
Nature - Jolly
Ability - Reckless
Effort Values - 252 Speed / 252 Atk / 4HP OR 64 HP / 192 Speed / 252 Atk
Moveset:
Flame Charge
Wild Charge
Flare Blitz
Stone Edge / Head Smash / SuperPower / Brick Break
Summary: There are a number of ways of using Emboar, competitively speaking, but this is my personal favorite by far (as it is the only way it can be any type of sweeper). It all begins by boosting that mediocre speed stat with
Flame Charge; this is best done by coming in on a Pokemon that is weak to it.
Weakness Policy will double Emboar's Attack if hit by a supereffective move - if you choose to risk this - but
Life Orb also works quite well too.
Wild Charge is for Water Types, and it hits quite hard with Reckless. But
Flare Blitz is where all the power really lies, having boosts from both STAB and Reckless. The last slot is up to the user, each giving Emboar some additional coverage:
SuperPower & Brick Break receive STAB and are primarily for thr Tyranitars of the competitive world, while
Stone Edge & Head Smash are for those pesky Dragon Types.
Countering:
Salamence & Rayquaza are great counters for Emboar, especially if you aren't running one with a Rock Type Move.
Bulky or Speedy Water Pokemon, specifically
Rotom Wash, also favor well against it.
