Sigilyph
Description
Sigilyph is a pretty cool Pokemon, but, in the grand scheme of the competitive world, it's just another one-trick pony. It really is only seen using one specific moveset, making it an easy defeat if you're ready for it. But if you're not, like most gimmick Pokemon, it can literally destroy your entire team.
Warrior13's 6th Generation Competitive Suggested Sigilyph Moveset
Item - Flame Orb
Nature - Calm
Ability - Magic Guard
Effort Values - 240 HP / 176 Def / 92 SpDef OR 252 HP / 252 SpDef / 4 Def
Moveset:
Roost
Cosmic Power
Psycho Shift
Stored Power / Toxic
Summary: And here it is: the only Sigilyph Moveset that you will see (with some exception to Effort Value Spread dependent upon what someone is running). It all beings with
Cosmic Power. The more times you can use it, the better.
Roost comes in handy for recovering lost HP, and
Psycho Shift inflicts a slow status that should eventually kill an opponent off. The last move is up to the user, but
Stored Power works best with Cosmic Power. If you can get Sigilyph to have both x4 Defense and Special Defense, that means that after STAB, Stored Power would have a whopping Base Power over 500! But if you'd like to really slowly kill an opponent by status conditioning,
Toxic has good coverage with the Flame Orb.
Countering:
Steel Types usually get the job done, especially if they are running a a moveset with
Rest. Even a maxed-out
Stored Power can't do much against them. A quick
Ghost Type can also get the job done, but only if Sigilyph hasn't already been allowed to setup.
