I have captured and trained every non-legendary(ds action replay) dragon type pokemon and Salamence is my favorite. Salamence, Garchomp, and Dragonite are all members of the 7 non-legendary pokemon whose stats are about double the average pokemon.

here are my moves:
earthquake
thunder fang

A good Salamence is like this:

Nature: Jolly
EVs: Att: 252, Speed: 252, HP: 4(depends of HP IVs here)
Item: Salac Berry
Moves: Dragon Claw, Fire Fang/earthquake, Belly Drum, Subsitute

You start by putting the foe to sleep. Then, you switch to Salamence. You first use subsitute, then you use belly drum, then you start sweeping. You would use dragon claw most of the time, but you would use fire fang or earthquake aganist steel types (who resist dragon claw. If you could set up this strategy, then it would probably destroy many opponents with its boosted attack and speed stats.
